“Professions By Artisans Eyes” competition

Ajman Culture and Media Department (ACMD) announced Tuesday the door was now open for contesters to take part in “Men in Business” competition, till July 25th, in two categories; photographing and graphic designing.

Upon directives from Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of ACMD, the competition, under the slogan “A profession in the Eyes of an Artist”, comes with the aim of developing media consciousness, discovering new talents in the UAE, improving photography movement in the country via encouraging and luring the largest possible number of photographers, supporting professionals, and creating data bases, to be used in the industry of documentaries, ACMD Deputy General Manger Faisal Al Nuaimi said.

Fatima Al-Mesafri, head of ACMD Ramadan events’ organizing committee, said the names of winners will be announced by a specialized jury at a ceremony to be held during the second week of the holy month of Ramadan.

The organizing committee allocated AED 10,000 for the first prize, AED 7,000 for the second, and AED 5,000 for the third in each category; photography and graphic designing, Al-Mesafri said, nothing that winners of the first ten prizes will get trophies and participation certificates. Also, an appreciation certificate will be given to every contester who meets requirement s of the competition, she added.

According to Kaltham Al-Mandoos, ACMD Director of Media and Government Communication, this competition which only works within the UAE borders, targets university students and amateurs in the UAE from all nationalities, allowing only five works as maximum for each competitor.

Application list will be available on ACMD web site www.acm.gov.ae, she said, adding that a competitor can apply personally by coming to ACMD HQ or via the e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Works shall not be less than 2000 pxl, can be presented whether colored or black and white, a competitor is free to handle his work digitally but observe being realistic, Al-Mandoos quoted terms and conditions as saying.

No data on the photo will be accepted but the competitor shall undertake that he owns the photo or the design and that he has any relevant liability, Al Mandoos made it clear.

By participation in this contest, ACMD and the Emirates Photography Association immediately have the right to use the works; whether by showing them in galleries or distributing them via the internet, she concluded.
