It is said that the Arab’s next achievement would be in story and not in poetry as it is used to be known, due to the proliferation of story as a difficult art form by all measures. But until such allegations are established or refuted in the future, the art of story writing remains one of the most difficult and its use is limited to a select few of writers who have succeeded in nurturing their talent in this difficult art of writing from a young age and mastered the trade over time.
The sponsoring of novice writers was one of the main targets of ACMD since it’s set up in 2007, including those with inclinations towards the narrative art of novel and story writing. A new unit was set up to publish novels and stories written by promising writers from Ajman, to encourage them and support the art to assume its well and deserved position, especially that story writing is a new art for the UAE and the Arab world. Such literary form relies on a long journey of education, awareness and rich life experiences. ACMD library boast many stories, including work by Ajman and UAE-based writers. The Department also honours, every year, a local, Arab or a foreign writer through it’s Shahinda Story Forum.
As part of its scope of work and in accordance to its strategic vision, ACMD has dedicated a lot of attention to literature and arts, including the theatre, considering it (the father of all arts), for being the art form that best embodies the realities and issues within the community while offering ways to resolve them.read more
